SVG to Base64 Converter

Base64-encode any SVG for places where raw markup won't fit — CSS files, JSON configs or API payloads. Encoding is Unicode-safe (Devanagari, emoji and CJK text survive the round-trip), and the output updates live as you edit the source.

How to use

  1. 1 Paste your SVG markup into the editor, or drop an .svg file anywhere on the page.
  2. 2 The Base64 tab is already selected — the encoded string appears in the output pane instantly.
  3. 3 Copy the Base64 string with one click, or download it as a .txt file.

Frequently asked questions

Is Base64 output larger than the original SVG?

Yes — Base64 adds roughly 33% overhead. If size matters, prefer a percent-encoded data URI (the CSS Data-URI tab) for CSS, which is usually smaller for SVG.

Why does my Base64 output end with padding characters (=)?

Padding is part of the Base64 specification and decoders expect it. Keep it in the output.

Can Base64 handle Unicode text inside my SVG?

Yes. This tool encodes as UTF-8 first, so non-Latin text and emoji round-trip correctly instead of corrupting.
